Defeating the Doctrinal Infection (Acts 15:1-11): Having failed to destroy the church through violent external persecution, Satan shifts to an insidious internal infection: legalism. Judaizers had infiltrated Antioch, demanding that Gentile converts keep the Mosaic law to be saved. This class will help you recognize modern legalism—trying to perform external rituals to make yourself feel "more spiritual"—and help you rest in Peter’s spectacular defense of the Gospel: "God purifies hearts by faith" (Acts 15:9). This is immediate, supernatural inner cleansing, completely independent of human effort! We see this power active today—like the homeless, drug-addicted alcoholic who cried out to God through our online classes, got saved by faith alone, and is now happily married with a home and two precious children!
The Holy Passion of Unity (Acts 15:25): The Jerusalem Council reached their monumental decision "with one accord"—homothumadon. This is the seventh and final time this powerful word is used in Acts, describing a unique, Spirit-prompted passion where believers are knit together with one mind and purpose. You will learn how to walk in grace, refusing to place intentional stumbling blocks before weaker brothers.
The Discipleship Investment (Acts 15:32-35): Discipleship is simply saying: "Follow me as I follow Christ". We will challenge you to stop being a spiritual spectator and start investing in others. When I was a quiet high school bookworm, my youth pastor challenged me to start a lunch Bible study with just one friend. By the end of the year, it exploded to 100 kids packed in the room getting saved!
