Daniel Lubetzky agreed to sell KIND in 2008 for $20 million up front and another $20 to $40 million on a performance formula. The buyer got cold feet over trademark and production issues and pulled out. A few years later, he says, they came back offering billions.
The founder and former CEO of KIND tells Ian Schwartzman what he had actually been aiming for, why he hired partners who thought nothing like him, and what he still asks himself about selling to Mars.
