John Barnett here, and welcome to our study of Acts chapter 17!
This class is your urgent battlefield manual to trade spiritual complacency and daily anxiety for supernatural, life-altering power. Here are three powerful pillars we will uncover together to radically transform your daily walk:
The Striped, Unstoppable March (Acts 17:1): After a horrific Roman flogging in Philippi left him bleeding and scarred, with no medical triage, Paul got up and walked 97 grueling miles to Thessalonica to keep preaching! How? He reveals the secret in 1 Thessalonians 2:13—the Word of God "effectively works in you who believe". The Gospel is an endless source of divine energy for abundant living. This class will teach you to get completely detached from your circumstances and attached to Christ so you can overcome any modern downturn or anxiety.
The Right-Side Up Realignment (Acts 17:6-7): Hostile crowds accused the early church of turning the world upside down. But actually, they were turning it right-side up, reorienting pagan, confused lives back to their Creator! Salvation is not a mere checklist; it is getting another King—Jesus to rule your life, your calendar, and your career.
The Berean Scripture Sieve (Acts 17:11): The "noble" Bereans didn’t blindly swallow Paul’s sermons. They daily searched and sifted the Scriptures to verify the truth. To protect yourself from last-days deception, you must become a Berean Christian. We challenge you to apply the "phone-on-Bible" habit: place your physical Bible on top of your phone at night so God’s Word is the very first thing you open in the morning!
Your Transformation Step: Commit to the Daily Devotional Journaling Method. Read, summarize, and write a personal prayer of surrender every morning. Finally, pack a 10-cent Gospel tract in your wallet. Pray for "divine appointments" to share Christ, and start taking people with you to heaven!
