Nassau County Sheriff’s deputies and local police arrested a suspect dubbed the “Lego Bandit” on September 15 following a high-speed U-Haul chase through Fernandina Beach, Florida. The suspect, identified as Ronald Lorne Tipton, attempted to weave through traffic before a patrol vehicle pinned his truck into a tree in a parking lot. Investigators stated that Tipton and an organized retail theft ring targeted high-dollar Lego sets by rolling carts through emergency exits to staged getaway vehicles. Following his capture, authorities also recovered suspected illegal drugs on the passenger side floor of the U-Haul.
